More Ejaculations Lowers Risk Of Prostate Cancer

July 8, 2016

If you’re a sexually active male who has a partner with whom you can partake in intercourse on a regular basis, great. You’re in the clear. Sort of. Just make sure you use protection and stay safe. If you’re a single guy who is in between relations, but are a bit embarrassed about doing the job yourself, don’t be. It’s about time we did away with the shaming over masturbation. The truth of the matter is that it’s actually much better for you if you do it then if you don’t. That’s because studies now are showing that men who ejaculate more often tend to be at a much lower risk of getting prostate cancer.

You may be asking yourself, how much is enough? A good question indeed. If you’re in your 20s or 40s, then you should be aiming for around 20 to 21 ejaculations per month. That divides up into being roughly four times a week, or every other day. And in case you’re still not entirely convinced, here are some statistics to help convince you.

According to findings by Dr. Jennifer R. Rider of the Boston University School of Public Health, men who ejaculate four times per week or more have around a 20% decrease in risk of being diagnosed with prostate cancer later in life. The study analyzed data from a total of just under 32,000 men, divided into men who ejaculated between four to seven times per week and men who ejaculated an average of four to seven times per month. Data was collected between the years of 1992 to 2010. Dr. Rider and her colleagues also found that men in their 20s who had thirteen ejaculations per month or more showed a 27% decrease in risk of being diagnosed with what’s known as intermediate prostate cancer, compared to men of the same age with only four to seven ejaculations per month.

The lowered risk of prostate cancer by way of frequent weekly to monthly ejaculation holds true not just for young men, but also for men in their 50s and older. In fact, for middle aged men, researchers found that risk of prostate cancer between men who ejaculate twenty-one times per month versus four to seven times per month was 50% lower!

It’s important to note that a lack of ejaculation has not been directly linked to prostate cancer of any kind. All the data has found is that men who do ejaculate with greater frequency tend to have lesser risk. This is an important distinction that the researches of this study made a point to be clear about.

So enjoy some you time. You’ve earned it. And in any case, you’d be doing yourself a disservice not to. Stay safe. Stay happy. And stay healthy. Aside from that, as you grow a bit older, you should also be in touch with a professional to keep an eye on your wellbeing. Even if you’re not feeling particularly unwell, it’s still important to know you can have a professional opinion if needed.
