Urinalysis/culture
For this test, all that is needed is a sample of urine from the patient. A urinalysis consists of physical, chemical, and microscopic tests. During the physical analysis, we evaluate the urine’s color and clarity. During the chemical examination, we test for 9 substances, each of which give us different information about a patient’s urine. The last part, a microscopic test, identifies the types of cells, casts, crystals, and other components that can be present in urine.

Ultrasound of the Prostate
During this exam, we insert an ultrasound transducer into the patient’s rectum and slightly move it around. This exam produces black-and-white images of the prostate by bouncing sound waves off the patient’s body tissue. With these pictures, we can detect disorder within the prostate.
- Voiding Cystourethrogram
During this procedure, a small catheter is inserted into the patient’s urethra and passed into the bladder. Contrast dye is then inserted into to catheter and flows into the bladder, resulting in better x-ray images. X-rays are then taken while the bladder is full and also while the patient is emptying their bladder. This exam can identity any abnormalities in the patient’s bladder or urethra.
The cause of male voiding dysfunction can be identified through the 3 exams presented in this article. Once the issue is detected, necessary medication, or possible surgery, will be used to eliminate the problem. At Luzato Medical Group, we provide all necessary services and recommendations to eliminate male voiding dysfunction.
