June Means Men’s Health Week!

June 21, 2017

From the 12th to the 18th of June, the entire country will join together in celebrating Men’s Health Week. Practices, clinics, hospitals and other medical locations, up and down the U.S., will celebrate by offering health-awareness initiatives to males. This includes health fairs, exhibitions, media appearances, screenings, and other health education and outreach activities. Here at Luzato Medical Group, we too will be celebrating Men’s Health Week! Here at Luzato Medical Group we offer the best urologist New York City has to offer. With years of experience and hundreds of happy clients, we are sure you will leave a satisfied and healthier individual.

Men’s Health Week History

On March 26th, 1994, Senator Bob Dole passed Senate Joint Resolution 179 (SJR 179).
An identical bill, House Joint Resolution 209 (HJR 209), required 218 sponsors to become eligible for consideration before the White House.
House Joint Resolution 209 (HJR 209) received enough support to pass the house in late May, 1994. HJR 209 ultimately attracted 238 sponsors.
SJR 179 was replaced for HJR 209 and was approved by the U.S. House of Representatives on May 24th, 1994.
President Bill Clinton signed the new bill on May 31st, 1994 thus establishing and founding National Men’s Health Week.
We have been celebrating and raising awareness in men’s health for the last 23 years.

Aims For Men’s Health Week

The main purpose of Men’s Health Week is to educate and heighten awareness of avoidable health problems. Furthermore, Men’s Health Week helps encourage prompt detection and treatments of diseases amongst boys and men.
Men’s Health Week offers health care providers, the media, industry-professionals and individuals an opportunity to encourage men and boys to seek regular medical advice, whilst further encouraging early treatment for injury and disease.
Generally speaking, the response to Men’s Health Week has been absolutely overwhelming since it began. Hundreds of awareness activities in the USA and throughout the globe have taken place since Men’s Health Week first began. No longer is it a national event, but now in 2017, Men’s Health Week is known as an international event.

How To Support Men’s Health Week?

Men’s Health Week, and it’s owners, Men’s Health Network are dedicated to enriching men’s health issues and wellbeing. They do this through a variety of educational campaigns and national screenings. Those particular programs are often provided through agreements with health care providers, retailers, fraternal organizations, workplace health programs and religious institutions.
You can support and promote the health of men, boys and families by helping with our activities or attending one of our events.
In the following places, you will be able to find free educational material and live speakers discussing male health:

  • Community volunteer outreach efforts
  • Small religious institutions
  • Other venues who don’t have the financial backing to pay for these kinds of services

In addition to free advice and keynote talks, there will be further screenings and information in the following matters:

  • Testicular cancer
  • Blood pressure
  • Cholesterol
  • Prostate cancer and other prostate related issues
  • Mental health
  • Low testosterone
  • Men’s skin care
  • Breast cancer (yes, men can suffer from breast cancer)
  • Plus many more…
